First World War battlefield tours

Can anyone recommend a tour company to use for a day trip from either Lille or Paris to First World War battlefields/memorials? DS (14) is studying WW1 so I'd like to take him for a tour as part of a holiday we're planning in France/Netherlands. We're travelling by train for the rest of the holiday so I'd like a tour company that picks up and drops off in either Lille or Paris (or Arras as we could take the train there from Lille easily). There seem to be loads of different companies on TripAdvisor so I just wondered if anyone has a personal recommendation? Thank you.

We went on a couple of tours with this company a few years ago but they are based in Ypres -

However they do Somme and Vimy Ridge tours so they might well do a pick up in Lille or Arras for you. Definitely worth asking and I’d definitely recommend.

If you can get rob Arras on the train you could also do the Wellington Tunnels (Carriere Wellington) which you’ll be able to walk to from Arras train station. We did this last year with kids and it was really interesting/good. I’ll try to hunt out the website and fairly sure you can book in advance.

There is some English as well as lots of French. The ticket link takes you through to a different site where I think it’s mainly French but I managed it with GCSE French taken a long time ago.... Grin

We went last year for the 100th anniversary and travelled with Leger on the super posh coach. It was great and their tour guides know their stuff!

We have done them from Ypres so no help. I’m sure you’ve looked but there are some good WWI websites, not Ttip Advisor.
