Can you get fined for holidays in nursery?

We have two family weddings coming up. One in turkey that's the Saturday at the end of half term but our flights are Wednesday-Wednesday so he'll miss two days of school (it's a bank holiday week so the Tuesday and Wednesday he'll miss) and one at the end of June where he'll miss the Thursday of the wedding and maybe the Friday as it's planned to have a family brunch that day. He's page boy at both as it's his auntie on each side getting married.

School have said our LEA have a zero tolerance approach to holidays in term time and we will be fined. Is this right?

No. There is no provision for fines for pupils not of compulsory school age.

Is it school or nursery? How old?

You can’t be fined under compulsory school age, which is the term after 5th birthday.

Tinyteatime · 14/05/2019 16:43

If a child is under 5 then no I don’t think they can fine you.

He's four but in reception class as he was moved up a little while ago at Christmas.

I mentioned it to school and they said it was a zero tolerance approach for all students on roll. I've explained it's not exactly a holiday and if we weren't at family weddings we wouldn't be going.

@MyDcAreMarvel awesome. Thank you. I'll continue to be packing for the wedding then 😂 I'll tell his teacher I've checked and they can't fine me.

Gov website says "Children must get an education between the school term after their 5th birthday and the last Friday in June in the school year they turn 16."

If your child is under 5 then I would think the rules don't apply.
