Which socks for a hot climate?

Just that really.

Will be off trekking in a hot climate later this year and wondering if anyone has any recommendations of which socks to wear.
I was thinking cotton but have read this is not such a good idea as it wont wick the moisture away. Also been reading up on Merino wool but that just seems counter intuitive.
Any experienced trekkers out there with any suggestions please?

Bridgedale socks are good, if you go to their website they have a colour coded scale showing which are best for warm weather.

If on a budget, look at Decathlon for something similar.

Merino socks are amazing. I have Ashmei ones for running and no matter how hot it is, my feet stay dry and not smelly.

Definitely not cotton! I'd just go with running socks for maximum ability to cope with warmth - that's what I used in Malaysian rainforest.

Pretty much any sleek walking sock will be fine though, while 1000 Mile or other double-layer socks might be too warm.

@CMOTDibbler & SpoonBlender

Both very helpful too, I'd not even thought to look at running socks so thank you.
