Where would be the best place to go for a first time trip to USA?

Just vaguely musing maybe (probably) fantasy planning :o

DH and I plus two children, 11 and nearly 2. None of us have ever left the EU before. DH reckons east coast probably best for shorter flight reasons, probably New York? I don't really know what we'd do there, just a vague idea that I'd like to visit the US as have always wanted to go there. Plus no vaccines required (am wimp ) and no scary spiders, generally not considered dangerous, etc. Am interested to try food, experience new things etc, but not especially interested in fashion, sport, theatre. DS1 would be ecstatic as it's the land of youtube etc. We are quite into technology stuff as a family.

What would you suggest?

Another vote for Boston followed by Cape Cod or Maine coast

Washington DC followed by driving tour of New England.

We went to New England and NYC last October for 3 weeks! Let me know if you're interested in seeing our itinerary. We flew into Boston, headed north to the White Mountains, Acadia National Park, travelled down the Maine coast, Newport, and then ended in NYC and flew out of there. Maine is great for sea food and we went for the Autumn colours. If you go you might want to consider going to the Ben and Jerrys factory in Vermont with your kids! You could also go further north than we did and see Niagra falls

West coast has plenty to do too, we're thinking of going there this year.
