Hi,
I am toying with the idea of going abroad but now have a Ds (won't go until next year when he is almost 2) and overthinking is putting me off. Can anyone reccomend where to go with DS that will make life easier not harder. Any tips also appreciated.

Somewhere not too hot because you don’t know how they’ll cope.
Somewhere with all the baby stuff provided so you don’t have to take too much.
Somewhere which has lots to do at the resort and/or coach excursions so you don’t have to hire a car or drive.
Somewhere with a separate sleeping area for the dc.
Somewhere where you’re self catered but there’s an option to eat out.
Somewhere with baby listening and/or a crèche so you and your OH can have some alone time together.

La Garangeroie in France would tick all those boxes. There is a lake onsite with a lakeside beach which you can explore by pedalo, or it’s just a short drive to the beach. There are 2 playgrounds including one which is specifically for under 3’s and has a protective fence round it. It also has a heated paddling pool with sprinklers for toddlers up to the age of 3, and a play area for preschool children (includes books, games, toys etc...). You can arrange babysitting there.

Depends what you like to do. We only did self catering until DD was 8 for a variety of reasons, one (the main) we didn’t and still don’t really like resorts.

We liked that we could tailor the days according to us, meals when we wanted as much or as little eating in/out. We always have a rental car and like doing things independently, not fixed to the schedule of tours.

We also liked that DD slept in her own room and we had space and quite in the evening.

We did twice Majorca and I found it a good place, DD is a good traveller though, loves doing things and was easy to take around. The first time we went was when she was just shy of two, we went in June. Good weather but not too hot.

We took DD to Mallorca when she was little. Short flight, going at the start of June or mid September meant the weather wasn’t too hot.

We stayed in an apartment on a small complex to give the flexibility to feed her as needed but with plenty of restaurants available

Pool to splash about in, limited entertainment including a mini disco kept her happy. Days were simple - easy morning with breakfast out to the pool, walk for somewhere to eat or lunch in the apartment followed by a nap, pool or beach in the afternoon, another nap then a walk for some dinner, mini disco the DD would usually fall asleep in the buggy meaning we could have a drink or a wander before bed.

The key for us was to relax and go with the flow
