HedTwigg · 17/07/2007 17:23

Er,I hasten to add that most have been in rather dreary spots.

Local leisure centre complete with used sanitary towels on lockers and poo stains in the loo good enough for yer?

FioFioJane · 17/07/2007 17:29

itsd one of those fold away paddling pools though I reckon

moondog · 17/07/2007 17:30

Swimming knackers them like nowt else thus on return you can leave them to gawp at tv while yuo lounge about/sip wine/peruse papers with a clear conscience.

Also doubles as a good wash.

moondog · 17/07/2007 17:31

I buy various things that you throw to the bottom of the pool and urge them to dive for in manner of performing seals.

Again,knackering which is good.

Enid · 17/07/2007 17:32

yes

dh will start crying if we haver to go to municipal french pool (speedos oblig) every day though

OP posts:
moondog · 17/07/2007 17:34

Just back form nasty experiences in French territories with same unbendable rule.Dh sat in the stalls with a book rather than facethe humiliation.Oh,and you forget obligatory rubber hats for all.I nearly scalped ds (2) levering it on.

moondog · 17/07/2007 17:34

Where are you going Enid?

roisin · 17/07/2007 17:43

We are going to the Isle of Mull on Friday - daily rain is pretty much guaranteed. We will be taking:

Walking boots, waterproofs, binoculars, and midge repellant
Plenty of clean/dry clothes!

Also:
Gameboys and DSs
Books
Games - Mastermind and Connect 4 are popular
Notebooks and pens
Paper and colour pens and pencils

Frisbee

moondog · 17/07/2007 17:44

Oooh Roisin, that sounds like an interesting place.
Far better than some roasting Med beach surrounded by oiks.

roisin · 17/07/2007 20:53

We went last year Moondog, and it's the first time we've ever gone straight back to the same place!

In a week there we saw golden eagles, sea eagles, red deer, fallow deer, otter, common seal, grey seal, harbour porpoise, and loads and loads of seabirds.

The boys adored it, and I can't wait to go again

moondog · 17/07/2007 22:31

I fancy a cruise around those islands (OMG, must be getting old!) and i would love to go tpo St. Kilda.

scattyspice · 17/07/2007 22:35

Mull's lovely roisin.

We went to Arran last year (rain+++). Went to the beach in wellies and macs everyday.

ChudleyMintonCanons · 17/07/2007 22:42

small box of lego
crayons, paper, stickers
a comic each
portable DVD player & popcorn
snap
rush hour (doubles up as toy cars)
will let them choose some playmobil in the hypermarket when we get there
bat & ball, football
buckets & spades and fishing nets

Enid · 18/07/2007 10:28

Brittany

wet, stormy, rainy Brittany

ChudleyMintonCanons · 18/07/2007 13:26

See you there enid!
We're going here next week. Is the weather forecast bad?

robinpud · 18/07/2007 13:36

Story cds for the car, mp3 players for when they can't bear each other or dh and I want a decent conversation.
top trumps /watercolours/ elderly half broken digital camera for them to tinker with/
dvd and video in case there is such a thing in the place
selection of crap wrapped in tissue paper and thrown into the back of the car at irregular intervals as "treat"

If going camping PROPER WINE GLASSES as these are proven to be medically essential.

{{As an aside Enid, had hilarious experience with a friends' dh at a pool in Brittany. He had boardies on and Madame behind desk explained they were not suitable. she then held up teeny tiny pair of speedos and assessed him over her glasses. She frowned, replaced them and got out a slightly larger pair. She sighed loudly, replaced them with a more commodious pair and then handed them to him with a disdainful look and an audible tusk. He was humiliated- not a large man but quite reduced by the end of it!)

moondog · 18/07/2007 13:41

lol Robin.
Exactly my dh's experience.

ChudleyMintonCanons · 18/07/2007 13:45

that has reminded me to dig out DH's emergency nutcrunchers. He's never had to wear them, but i fear this may be the year.

Uno, just bought large scrapbooks and a big pad of drawing paper for each, art stuff, Subbuteo for ds , shut the box.
Will also take sticker books, reading books and hurrah, DVDs as we have a player this year.
LARGE bottle of Kalms and an Ocado order consisting mostly of beverage alcohol for us.
We are off to Devon, or what is left of it after assorted inundations, mudslides etc
