Dress code help for Dubai during Ramadan

Hello everyone!

Desperately need help!!!!

We have been to Dubai before (not during Ramadan) and when out in public I wore skinny jeans and a t shirt the majority of the time.

I read a lot on the dress code online, but then was absolutely shocked by the amount of women tourists, wearing short dresses, crop tops, cleavage on show etc..I thought that dressing like this was supposedly highly offensive?

I would never dress like that in a million years 🤢
But I would like to know if I am still ok to wear skinny jeans and t shirts, while out in public during Ramadan? During the day and evening?

Is it ok to wear t shirts that don't come up to the neck, and show a bit of my chest, not showing any cleavage..I hope that makes sense!

Also read that men during Ramadan can only wear trousers or shorts below the knee?
Is this true or could my husband wear shorts slightly above the knee while out in public?

Hope MN can advise me fast, as I need to start the horrific task of packing!

Thank you so much in advice for your responses!

Yes, you’ll be fine in jeans and a T-shirt. I’m constantly amazed here by what people think is appropriate to wear in a city, never mind a Muslim one.

No one will say anything if you wear shorts to the mall but it's nice to be respectful and the mall is cold enough for trousers. The food courts in the mall will be open behind screens but the restaurants will be closed. In hotels it will pretty much be as usual!

I usually wear 3/4 pants or jeans when out and about in the day.

Don’t normally bother with any sleeves longer than normal t shirts

Lived here 12 years.

Oh that's very reassuring, that I don't have to panic too much..thank you 😊

@TFBundy when we went last, it was too hot to take our infant out in the day anyway..we much preferred lounging at the hotel and pool in the day, and then at night time use to go out, when it was cooler for the little one.
So we will be doing the same thing again this year 😊
We don't drink anyway, so restrictions on alcohol doesn't bother us..
All that aspect of things we are absolutely fine with 😊
It was just double checking about the clothes really
