Help-controlling active 20 month old on the beach

Does any type of safety harness exist for letting DD2 (20 months) have some freedom on the beach but will stop her from running away too far-she is fast and fearless which is a bit of a worrying combination-to go hand in hand with parental vigilance of course.

errr, no. At least I don't think so

You mean like a tether type thing? Like you would tie a donkey or dog on? Oh I have seriously considered such an item for ds2!!

Having said that, I actually found the beach was the easiest place to control ds2 when we went away. He was 15 months at the time and a nightmare. The sand really slows them down!

I know it might sound daft but we found if we sat nearer the water there was less running about for us. Depends how busy the beach is I suppose but it seemed safer if dd was running away from the water. Dh also dug with dd helping her own wee pool in the sand which she played happily in for ages.

you let your dd play with a pool of wee??

duke · 19/07/2007 22:40

I find taking a paddling pool to the beach a great help as you can sit and let them play in the water. then roll it up and take it home. also you get to laugh at dh as he drags it full of water up the beach.

dig a big hole, put dd in, instant playpen!

giggly · 20/07/2007 00:28

lol, wee as in small, well to start with! dd also managed a huge poo, minutes after taking her swim nappy off at another beach right in front of very attractive young man(blush)
