would you stay in just the one place or move around a bit?

Hire a motor home and travel round Europe or backpack round India.

Youngandfree · 22/04/2019 15:56

When the Dc are older we plan on doing Europe one summer and then Singapore Malaysia etc and oz another summer, but we would be 7/8 weeks instead of 6

Whatdoyouknowwhenyouknownowt · 22/04/2019 15:56

We went to Oz for 5 weeks. After previous trips, we realised we don't like to be travelling every day, so stayed 3 or 4 nights in each place.

Canada is also great for road trips, as it the Pacific Northwest of the US. Portland is a lovely city.

Road trip around Scottish Borders/islands

BuzzPeakWankBobbly · 22/04/2019 16:25

Canada for the sheer variety.

WinterHeatWave · 22/04/2019 17:30

I would move about, maybe every 5-7 days.
Australia
Canada and/or USA
SE Asia
Not looked into this, but I wonder what you could do round South Americia in that time frame.

Frazzled2207 · 22/04/2019 17:41

I'd do a grand tour of Latin America

juneau · 23/04/2019 12:35

It would depend on what time of year, as we don't like travelling in very hot weather. If it was during the school summer holidays I'd either head north to Canada or south to Australia or NZ (doing some skiing in the Southern Alps). If it was in spring/autumn I'd do a road trip around a chunk of Europe, or head to SE Asia or Latin America.

We are currently in North Carolina. Been to Virginia and I would do both of these more leisurely. Also go down the Smoky Mountains and end up in Atlanta. Not in summer though! Too hot!
