Posted an earlier thread on Columbia but didn’t get much traffic. We’re in the fortunate position of having to decide between these two destinations for summer but are struggling. Any tips gratefully received. Columbia would be Bogota, Cartegna then a week at the Rosario islands on the Caribbean Coast. A busier holiday and the accommodation will be more basic. Even with upgrades, 4/5* isn’t comparable.
Seychelles would be more expensive. Couple of days on Bird Island, then Praslin for a week, then a couple of days Mahe. Mostly water sports and nature/wildlife exploring. Accommodation more akin to usual expectations of 4/5*. This is not our usual holiday - normally 2 weeks in Europe, so this is our biggie with the DC, who’ll be 15 and 12.
Any thoughts (I know it’s subjective Smile )

Having been and done the Colombia trip it is incredible, Rosario Islands are beautiful, Bogota isn't worth more than a day or two.
Colombia is not that safe at the moment (FCO updated safe areas and they are where you will be) my sister is based in Pereria (also a safe area) and there was recently an assassination of a femal lawyer very close to her apartment at a restaurant, broad daylight. Politically things have changed and she is being a lot more careful. If you want accommodation recommendations for Rosario/ Cartagena and Bogota here you go!
Exe Bogota nice rooftop pool, safe area and close to nice restaurants.
Hotel San pedro Majagua
Cartagena stayed at Casa Mara
Then we slummed it at cabana Geronimo on the beach playa blanca!

I've been to Pralin and Mahe and both are stunning. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Whats the weather like in our summer though? Not sure its optimal. Its more of a beach holiday than an adventure holiday id say, so maybe Colombia would be better for that if that is what you are looking for. I'd do a safari then Seychelles, if I could afford to take all my kids there now, which I can't Grin
