Sun & swimming pool - Inland?

I'm looking at holidays for us for either October half term or Easter holidays next year.

We live near the beach so although going to the beach whilst on holiday is lovely it's not the focus for us.

There's me, dh & 3dc (6, 8 & 10 yrs) & we're looking for a villa with private pool or very small resort to self cater. As much as I envisaged site-seeing, culture etc really the dc just enjoyed the sun & swimming pool so for now that's fine!

I'm wondering if we found somewhere inland away from the coast would be cheaper?

Would need to fly from Newquay, Exeter or Bristol & not too far (2-4 hr flight).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

How about a child friendly hotel in Lake Garda? You can catch a bus to Verona for some history, ride on boats across the lake, enjoy lovely food and good weather (went early October last year was lovely although not sure what end of month or Easter would be like).

Tuscany is beautiful, so much to see. I'm not sure what the weather would be like though, I have only been in mid summer.
