Looking to go to Ireland this summer, will be me, dh and 2 dds aged 16 and 12.

We've been to Cork and surrounding regions before so not there.

12 year old dd is keen to do bodyboarding which I understand is better on the west coast. So maybe Donegal?

The other alternative is around the Dublin area (dh and I have been years ago and loved it) and go south towards Waterford/Wexford. But no good for body boarding presumably..?

Seeing the Titanic exhibition in Belfast is also a possibility.

All suggestions very welcome! We will hire a car btw.

There’s a town in county Clare (on the west coast) called Lahinch that’s known for surfing, so might be worth looking into? It’s also quite close to a town called Doolin, which is an amazing spot for catching some traditional Irish music sessions in the pubs! They have a folk music festival one weekend in June which is a lot of fun.

You’d also be close to a few touristy days out, like the cliffs of moher and the ailwee caves.

Definitely without a doubt Westport mayo.
Blue flag surfing beaches abound.
Also surf schools
Horse riding
Lovely cinema on the highly unlikely chance of rainConfused
Fabulous scenery it's on the wild Atlantic way.
Wonderful restaurants
Great hotels many with indoor pools
Can fly to knock it's about an hours easy drive
Happy to elaborate if you like but you'd have a wonderful time

www.delphiadventureresort.com is a lovely spot.

The titanic exhibition in Belfast is fab. Do it earlier in the day as it may take you longer than you think. We did it in the afternoon and had to rush the end.
Have you considered the north coast, co. Antrim. There is the giants causeway and some game of thrones film locations if of interest. There a few beaches for surfing / body boarding too. You would just need to avoid mid July as the golf open is being held in portrush this year. But this has brought lots of good investment into the area. X

Yes ther is some good surf down in Waterford. Tramore is our seaside town and it has a great beach. Also we have a great cycle track called the greenway that goes across the county. We have great beaches and coves and the city itself is very historical. It’s an hour from Kilkenny which is a fab day out. Another county that has great surf is Sligo!

Youngandfree · 16/04/2019 21:26

Tramore has a surf school and you could hire boards, suits etc. also there’s a funfair etc we have mountains here in Waterford with great walks.horse riding, great seafood out in Dunmore east, there’s also an adventure Centre (water based) our in Dunmore east which is great fun for teens.

You could do both Dublin and west coast, it's only a couple of hours drive.

I was coming on to say Lahinch Co Clare. Could book I'm to a surf camp for a few days which is great fun and not weather dependent. Ye could have time together or surf.
Also from Doolin you can take a boat across to the Aran islands which are fab.
As ye have 12 days ye could take in Galway and out to Connemara which is a National Park.
Hope ye have a great holiday.
