Hi,
I too had a message on my answerphone, really posh male voice, to say we too had one a cruise, it was quickly deleted!

NomDePlume · 11/09/2004 11:06

Me too ! I haven't phoned the number, but I wonder if we are going to get charged for a premium 'reverse rate' call just for receiving the message ? I've heard of this happening before. In fact we shouldn't even be getting these calls as we are registered with the TPS

GeorginaA · 11/09/2004 11:34

I had this message too ... ignored it.

Had forgotten we were registered with the TPS. Would complain but don't have the number who contacted us.

I got this phonecall yesterday. Have had so many 'You have won a holiday' calls that I as soon as I heard 'won a cruise' I just hung up.

dottee · 12/09/2004 09:39

Glad I'm not the only one getting peed off with these calls.

My MIL has been getting one of these calls every evening recently and she keeps hanging up but it is worrying her so much now that she won'even answer her phone.

dottee · 12/09/2004 09:54

We got one on my dp's business line around 11pm. We jumped up to get it straight away as we thought there was something wrong at PILs house, because fil is the only one that tends to use that line out of business hours.

Damned annoying!!!

coppertop · 12/09/2004 09:59

Yep. We keep getting these calls too. The other variation on this is a call where someone says that they have some urgent information to give you, for which you are supposed to press some number or other. I hung up but I suspect more vulnerable people would be freaked out and think that something awful had happened to someone they knew.

whizzz · 12/09/2004 17:04

Yup - we got back from our holiday yesterday to find the same message. Deleted it !! We are also registered with TPS. These people sholdn't be allowed to do this sort of thing

GeorginaA · 12/09/2004 17:19

It looks like the calls originated from the US (from that thread you linked to robinw) so they wouldn't be bound by UK law anyway? Hence why TPS probably won't be able to prosecute.

pixiefish · 12/09/2004 17:21

funnily enough both my mum and myself had one of these yesterday (sat) morning. a bit of a coincidence? we've got different surnames- she's h and i'm m.

coppertop · 12/09/2004 17:57

Just had another one about 10 minutes ago. Bl**dy irritating!
