Which area we need to be in so we can go out in the evening to bars and restaurants?
Any recommendations for hotels that have private pools at your room?

The Banthai Beach Resort & Spa at Patong Beach is lovely.
Not private pools but swim up to room.
It's quiet until you hit the street and then it's busy. Plenty of restaurants and bars around.
