Cyprus - self-catering

Does anyone have knowledge /good experience of staying in Cyprus?

I'd love some advice on good places to rent - near the sea-- for a holiday with grown-up (sort of) DCs and a peace-loving DH.

We are probably going mid sept /early Oct but wonder if this is the best time.

Perfect time to go, I can help with Paphos if that's any good?

Yes please - anywhere on Cyprus would interest me.

Paphos is lovely but the beaches aren't great unless you stay in Coral Bay. Plenty of rental villas in Coral Bay and nearby Peyia but you'd need to hire a car to get to beach if you stay in Peyia. If you're not bothered about the beach and are happy with a pool then look for a rental villa in Chloraka, Kissonerga, Peyia, Seacaves or Agios Georgios (all coastal areas). Coral Bay has a 'strip' full of bars and restaurants; Peyia has a nice village centre with plenty of tavernas etc but not walking distance to the sea (about 3-4km).

Mid Sept - early October is the best time to go, temperatures will be around 30c in the day but without the horrible humidity and pleasant in the evening!

Hylatio Village in Pissouri is gorgeous, very peaceful and beautiful and you can go self catering. Pissouri Bay is a stony beach but all the shops sell beach shoes that you can swim in and save your feet. Hire a car and drive to Avdimou for a sandier beach, visit Paphos and Coral Bay, see Kourion and the Tombs of the Kings, the Sanctuary of Apollo, Aphrodite’s Rock - all much easier out of high summer!

Sorry OP, just re read your post Blush Are you looking for a private villa or or an aparthotel/complex?

Thank-you - this is all very helpful.

I'd be interested in any self-catering at present. There are likely to be two of us for one trip but more for one later in the year.
