Disney villas (onsite)

I’m looking at the possibility of staying in a Disney villa for next year’s holiday. 4 people, me, DH, and two teens (both boys).
Can anyone recommend a resort please?
Ideally we want a two bedroom villa (not one bedroom and sofa bed in lounge).
Thanks.

We own at the Villas Wilderness Lodge (although it’s not called that now- Boulder Ridge or something?)

Are you planning on booking direct through Disney or going through something like David’s Vacation Club to rent points? Disney often has Old Key West and Saratoga Springs on offer but the others can be eye watering expensive (and much cheaper going through David’s!)?

We obviously love the Wilderness Lodge, but we’ve also loved stays at Kidani (safari view) and Bay Lake Tower (next to the Contemporary so easy access to the Magic Kingdom). The Boardwalk is good for easy access to both Hollywood Studios and Epcot, but I’m not so keen on the resort itself - though we are going back there for a week in October for Food & Wine.

I was going to book directly through Disney as we are not Vacation club members (yet Grin)

You don’t need to be an owner to rent points, but it is more nerve wracking than booking direct with Disney. Disney is sometimes limited to OKW and SS. I haven’t stayed at either (I like smaller resorts) but have wandered round/eaten at both. SS is great for getting to Disney Springs but OKW is (IMO) prettier and more peaceful. Depends on what you are after.

If you are thinking about buying, definitely go round a few of the resorts!

Have just bought at Saratoga springs and although haven’t stayed yet have walked through and it’s lovely.
Have stayed in old key west and loved it, in particular the boat ride to Disney springs.

You can save a lot of money renting through somewhere like David’s dvc

I didn’t know you could do that, thanks, I’ll look into it.

We love Bay Lake theme park view villas as you can watch the fireworks every night from MK. Transport is good as well.

@underneaththeash - is that a Disney property?

Yes, it’s to one side of contemporary. You definitely want a 2 bed, 1 bed/studios are tiny.

I’d also recommend getting a few groceries delivered by a company called garden grocer, it’s a little more expensive than a regular shop, but it means you don’t need to shop on arrival day.
