Hi I am looking for recommendations for a short European break with my baby who is now 5 months old . It wil be our first holiday with our first baby so we are a little paranoid. We are not in a immediate rush to go. We are looking for a resort which is very family friendly with good baby facilities. Somewher not to far from the UK either and not an overly crowded place, Preferably a city with local restaurants and shops
Any recommendations of places uve been would be good and then I could continue my research to see if its suitable 😁

TUI family life Mar de Menorca is a good 3* in a quiet area 10 minutes by bus to Menorca's capital Mahon. The 1 and 2 bedroom apartments have been recently refurbished and have a small kitchenette with microwave. There is a large swimming pool including a baby pool, and a small beach is 10 minute walk away. There's a baby club for 0 – 3 year olds and also parent and toddlers storytelling and singing sessions. The air-conditioned baby lounge is open all day, every day and is a peaceful area to sit, relax and meet other parents. It comes has microwaves, changing tables and bottle warmers so there's no need to hike to your room each time! Baby equipment such as cots and pushchairs can be hired. There aren't any lifts so ask for a ground floor room if you have a buggy.

Sunwing Resort Fanabe, Tenerife, has special toddler-friendly ground floor apartments with toddler cutlery, high chair, safety gates etc... There is a special children's area of the restaurant, a mini playground and qualified babysitters are bookable.

At 5 months you can go anywhere still (it's harder with a toddler). If you prefer to take your own stuff then France or Spain (via ferry) is a good option otherwise most hotels have items to hire and major cities have hire services that deliver to your hotel even nappies in advance. Spain is particularly good for kids as they let them everywhere - but meal times are at my bed time!

Agree with PP. At 5 months the baby is still easy and portable. Go anywhere! Long haul!

Martinhal have a couple of hotels in Lisbon and are supposed to be fabulous www.martinhal.com/

And don't travel long haul if you don't want to - travel with your first baby can be stressful enough without going somewhere far flung. But they are very portable and they (tend to) sleep in a pram or pushchair, so it's a good opportunity to enjoy a final adult-type holiday without having to accommodate playgrounds and toddler pools (which will be your life for the next few years!)
