How do Statue of Liberty tickets work?

Are they booked times for the ferry or the time you have to be there. Have seen tickets for 9.00 but first ferry is 9.30. ConfusedConfused

You’ll have to queue to go through security so if your tickets are 9am you’ll probably be on the 9.30 ferry. It takes a while.

You start Qing for security at 9am. Ferry due to depart 9:30am if security ok.
