Passport 1 week service

So we are supposed to be flying to Turkey next Saturday (6th April) however my husband (and he fully admits this) has lost our passports. They’re gone. We’ve had to cancel them so we can get new ones but couldn’t get an appointment until Monday. Has anyone used the fast track 1 week service and had their passports in less than a week?? I am not holding out any hope!

Could you not have done same day service?

I see it's 1 week for replacing a lost one. I did an online renewal application and got my new one back in 10 days (and that included time for me to post my old passport back to then)

Was that just normal service? Not paying for a fast track one? Maybe there’s a glimmer of hope then if they do it like that normally and we’ll be paying the premium. Was it recently?

Yes it was an online application with uploaded photo. Did 3 online applications on the 10th March (Sunday). Posted the old passports 1st class post on Monday. Received the 1st new passport back on 20th March with the other 2 received a few days afterwards (all 3 applications were sent to 3 different passport offices)

If your passport is lost & you need it quick you need birth certificates, costs extra & you have to go to the office in person. It's not the same as a renewal

They have got an appointment

Good luck, people went a bit crazy with renewing passports over Brexit in March so there could be a backlog. Even without you are pushing it a bit to have them for Saturday or are you away before the mail, so you would need them back on Friday?

Have you a back up plan? Flights on Monday a possibility? Covered by insurance?

Did you get your passports? Or is your husband in the dog house? Had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. Had my passport stolen then had to get a new one for a holiday. It came the day before we went. On that note our travel insurance wouldn’t have covered the cost of the holiday if I hadn’t have for a new one in time even though the passport was stolen on holiday.
