Cheap ferry ideas

I’ve not tried to book a ferry for two years, it seems in that time the fares have really increased. I was hoping to go from Portsmouth-St Malo and have checked all the usual sites - aferry etc.
I was wondering if someone here had any clever ideas or tricks or websites that offered cheaper tickets?

Portsmouth-st malo has always been prohibitively expensive, particularly as you need a cabin for the outbound journey (although there are people on here who have discount codes whcih they sometimes share), the trick is to go dover-calais or dover-dunkerque (sp?).

I tend to use the shorter (cheaper)crossings but generally find that it can be worth while travelling mid week to save a few quid.

@shelley, do you get codes via the Brittany Ferries membership? Don't know if it's worth paying for.

shellyandlayla · 05/04/2019 08:58

GorkyMcPorky Yes, you can pay for annual membership, and then you get 30% off, can't remember exactly but think it's about £150 the first year, then about half that to renew. You can pass your code on to friends and family and they get 10% off crossings Wink
