Solo activity holiday

I'm a middle-aged single parent and will have two weeks this summer when my DD is away with her dad. I'd like to do something fun and different. Also in a rut career-wise so looking for actvities that will jolt me out of my everyday routine. Open to a wide variety of activities but I'm not a real thrill-seeker and want to stay within Europe. Any suggestions? As random as you like! Could range from sailing to creative writing to personal development to grape harvesting to basket weaving to circus skills. Just something that will shake up my ideas a bit!

You could learn to scuba dive within a week's holiday. Malta or the Canaries are good for beginners with a good choice of English speaking dive centres.

You could also spend a weekend doing the basics in the UK and finish off abroad if you preferred. Do you have any diving shops locally?

Hi Barbara, great idea. I do have a dive centre nearby (I'm actually not in the UK but am in Europe).

UCPA do various outdoorsy holidays. DH has skied with them and liked the set up.

Thanks Minnie. Are they all in French? Looks like something I could also do with my sporty 8 year old.

Action Outdoors are the UK agent, so I'd think you'll be fine language-wise if you book through them. DH only speaks ski lesson French and didn't have a problem.

OK thanks Minnie. We do speak French but it would be easier for me in English.

Open water swimming with Swim Trek

Open water swimming would be an adventure - probably not for me but great suggestion!
