For the first time in a decade we have managed to book 2 weeks off together and now just need to decide what to do!

Current ideas include:
-Vancouver/BC area +/- Seattle

  • East Coast USA (Boston + Cape Cod or other similar)
  • South Africa safari

We don't want a relaxing beach holiday as we have one of those planned for a week in October. We like exploring towns and cities, eating, general pottering outdoors but not massive hikes (6yr old gets whiny), nice scenery....as an example we absolutely loved South Island NZ).

If anyone has any tried and tested holidays to recommend or ideas it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Loved the South Island of New Zealand too!

Vancouver and Vancouver Island are beautiful - I went years ago as a teenager and then we went on the the Rockies. With two weeks you could do the same.

We did a two and a half week loop from Seattle with our kids a couple of years ago and loved it. Seattle, Mt Rainier National Park, Portland, Mt Hood and then out to the Oregon coast - Yachats, Cape Perpetua, Cannon Beach & Astoria and then Olympic NP before heading back across the Puget Sound to Seattle.

We loved it - cities, seaside and mountains. Happy to give more details if interested. We managed a few walks with our two - the views usually made up for the whining!!

I worked in South Africa for six months and have been back. Again it’s fab! Not sure what it would be like with kids. Really fancy trying Namibia!

As for East Coast - I reckon get up to Maine as well as Cape Cod if you can.

That Seattle loop sounds amazing! Might just check out flights, book some if any are cheap(ish) and then sort the itinerary after.
