Things to do:
zoo and night safari
universal studios and Sentosa island
Asian civilisations museum is very good
wander around China town and little India
Raffles hotel - but not sure if it is still being renovated
I have stayed at the holiday inn on Orchard road several times - decent location, close to the metro and has a pool on the top floor.

What time of year are you planning on visiting?

Gardens by the Bay is well worth a visit (book tickets in advance). Jurong Bird Park is also worth a day trip.

How old are your kids? Sentosa really is paradise for kids, with Universal Studios, the Aquarium, the Luge, a waterpark, plus the beach and lots of water activities (kayaking, paddle boarding etc.) plus v family friendly restaurants. If budget allows, may be worth staying at one of the hotels there rather than in the city itself.

completely forgot gardens by the bay - really worth a visit.

We went with our 8 and 11 year old last year and stayed at the Novotel by Clarke quay - would really recommend it. Had a good pool, brilliant buffet breakfast, good sized family rooms. Best thing was the location - Clarke quay has great atmosphere with loads of restaurants and there are two metro stops really close to get wherever you want. Echo all the other posters’ suggestions for activities - so much to do and see in Singapore - we loved it.

We had a two bed apartment at Somerset Bencoolen which was great, lots of space and fantastic rooftop pool, and breakfast was included. It's next to an mrt station too.

We liked the Chinese heritage centre which is similar to New York's Tenement Museum.

Can I really really recommend treetops executive residence. Minimum stay of six nights but we only stayed five and the price was still reasonable even though we had a night we didn’t pay for. Beautiful two bed apartment, breakfast included, they pick you up from the airport for free, playground, massive pool. It is awesome. My kids are 6 and 4 and enjoyed the zoo, gardens by the Bay, river safari and sentosa.

We stayed at the Swisshotel Merchant Court which was well located and does good 2-bed family suites (connecting rooms) with thoughtful extras for children, particularly if they are quite young.

We were there a couple of years ago, and are going again this year - can't wait!

My kids (8 & 11 at the time), enjoyed the zip line, luge, universal & The I-Fly (all sentosa). They also really liked the art science museum, wandering around China town, little India, and the Arab quarter, the light shows at gardens by the bay and also at marina bay.

Oh, and the Jungle breakfast!

Along with everything pps have said, ArtScience Museum is absolutely fantastic. Botanical Gardens is lovely if you fancy a bit of exercise. And, depending on your budget, at least one night at Marina Bay Sands hotel is a brilliant experience. Chilli Crab at Red House in East Coast Park (I used to live across the road in Siglap) is superb and you can hire a bike to work it off round the park afterwards.

Brill ideas lovely ladies, Thanks to all , I can now chart out the visit. The hotels in Sentosa Island seems to be quite expensive compared to the city centre ones , is there a great benefit of staying is Sentosa in terms of proximity to these attractions?

Singapore is less than half the size of London so nowhere is hugely distant from anywhere else. And the MRT is easy to navigate, all public transport is good and good value but, tbh, cabs are so abundant and cheap, as a visitor I’d use them. Download the ComfortDelGro app when you get there and use it. PS the app itself doesn’t get great reviews but the cab co is great. I lived in East Coast Park area and when family visited, nothing was really too far/distant to get to (as long as you travel outside of rush hours). I personally wouldn’t stay in Sentosa unless the saving on day tickets is huge by doing so. Sentosa isn’t really my thing but there are some things worth a visit there, like the Aquarium. But Sentosa is easily accessed from VivoCity so no need to stay there imo. You’ll see far more of the real Singapore by staying somewhere else. I’m jealous, you’re going to have fun!
