i had my passport renewed on jan 25th 06 and it doesn't expire until oct 2016 (renewed it 6 months in advance so that i could travel with more than 6 months validity left). I travelled to Majorca on it last year with no problem and I did once ask the passport office if i was going to have problems when i go abroad with my passport not being biometric but they said i'd be alright up until its expiry date. i noticed,however,on the Thomsons website,that if you get to booking stage it warns "each passenter to the usa whose passport is issued after oct 25th and before the introduction of biometric passports will need to obtain a visa from the united states Embassy in London or Belfast. This must be collected in person."I'm wondering whether i'm going to have problems with it in the future and no doubt i'm going to be charged again if I have to do something about it. Anyone know anything?
