Weekend break in Iceland

Can anyone recommend a short weekend break for 2 nights in Iceland? I’m looking to treat my DH for his 40th birthday this year. We’d be looking to go towards the beginning of November as I’m a teacher and restricted to half term. He’s always wanted to see the Northen lights so any tours that people could recommend would be greatly appreciated. We would want to stay in the city centre. Thanks! Xx

We went in Jan. it was amazing, but v.expensive!

We stayed in the canopy by Hilton lovely hotel and very central.

Reykjavik itself is a lovely city, much prettier than I was expecting, and all the Icelandic people we met were very friendly.

The best thing we did was a day tour with Superjeep - would highly recommend them! We paid £250 each for a tour of the glacier, national park and waterfalls (think it was the Golden Circle tour). There's a maximum of 6 people, and the jeep can go to different and better places than a coach load of people.

If you have time to go south then the black sand beaches are also amazing!

The only thing I would say is that when we were there in Jan they were having their 1st snowfall of the season - up till then it had only been rain, so in Nov it might not be the winter wonderland you're expecting. I think the snow was unusually late though.

Supermarket and bakery over road. Why stay in town most of the stuff you want to see is out of town?
Hired a car did the golden circle thing very good blue lagoon is expensive I believe there are better ones?
We went the week before Christmas, it wasn't very festive, the roads are mostly ice so you have special tyres, check the weather and take care.
Light at 11am dark at 1500.
