I paid £50 last year, it was a private transfer for 5 people including luggage. It was very easy, I just called the company Carmel when I arrived at the airport from a free phone, they told me where to wait and collected us about 15 mins later. I booked via Expedia as it was cheaper than booking direct.

Also I did the same on the way back from hotel to airport. I booked it via Expedia the day before we left as I thought we may get public transport but with 5 of us the private transfer was better value and again very easy.

Taxi is easy as requires no pre-planning, it’s a flat fare plus tolls, tax and tip. I think it comes to about $75 total.
You can get the Air train to Jamaica then change there for the subway (about $8 pp) or the quicker but more expensive LIRR to Penn station (about $15 pp).
Or my preferred option would be an Uber. It’s cheaper than a cab, you don’t have to queue at the taxi rank and there’s none of inconvenience of lugging luggage onto a train after a long flight. For mid town you’re probably looking at $60-ish for a pool and maybe $65-70 for an Uber-X.

Uber all the way. But once in Manhattan, there is very little difference in price between them and yellow cabs. The advantage of the yellow cabs is that they always know where they are going!!!
