Majorca hotels or apartments - recommendations

We are looking for a hotel or apartment in Majorca for the end of August / start of September. I was hoping to be in Soller, Pollensa or somewhere similar to that. The prices are so high for a nice hotel! Can anyone recommend anything?

Happy to consider other areas but don't know where to look, ideally do want to be close to the beach or have a pool and still be near to drive easily. No other requirements really other than pretty and near somewhere with things to do with the kids.

Don't really want a huge style resort but not completely against them if it's nice! But a smaller family friendly hotel would also be great.

Avoid the playa mar in Porto pollensa! It was 100% British and hell
On earth!! Very loud and noisy with a very cliquey in crowd. I can't be atsed with that! We absolutely loved Club Martha inCala Egos which is a walk (or happy train ride!) through the marina from Cala d'Or. Cala Egos has shops bars, , restaurants, we coves, markets etc and is lovely. Porto Pollensa was over priced and a wee bit pretentious in my opinion (kids meals were double the price of Cala d'Or for less) but I know it is a Mumsnet favourite so I may be flamed!

We have done club Martha in cala egos several times, it's fantastic and seems very cheap compared to similar holidays. 3 pools, kids club, walking distance to a small sandy beach , pubs restaurants etc. Check out on the beach.com
