Recommendations for Hols late Aug/Sep 2020

It's our 25th Wedding Anniversary next year and me & DH want to go somewhere special on holiday to celebrate.
We like warm/hot sunny weather and we enjoy beach holidays but like some sight seeing too.
We would love to get some recommendations of places to go that are a little more special.
Holiday would be very end of August and then into Sept. I have looked at Caribbean but Aug seems to be hurricane season.
Any ideas would be really welcome.

Indonesia should be good weather at that time of year. Plenty of islands to choose from!

Bali, Java,Malaysian Borneo, Hue and Hoi An in Vietnam -all have decent weather in August.

We've just been to the Maldives. Do you need to go in August or could you actually go any time as August being school hols makes it v ex. Mauritius is also nice

When you say 'special' do you mean long haul? Because at that time of year, Europe is perfect! You could do an amazing trip to Italy (Tuscany and see Florence, Pisa, Siena, etc, or Rome, or Venice, or Amalfi coast and take in Capri and Pompeii).

Or the South of France, stay in an amazing villa in the hills above Cannes, and drive the coastal roads when traffic has calmed down!

Or do the Camino de Santiago trail and stay in some Paradors.

Or Finland and St Petersburg on a cruise and see the Hermitage Museum. Or a tour of Scandinavia.

We want to be away for our 25th Anniversary which is 2nd Sept - hence choosing very end of Aug for 2 wks. If we fly long haul we need to travel a few days prior to that date.
We wanted something a little more exclusive that we probably wouldn't do again so probably looking at long haul.
We've seeing some adults only hotel package deals in Mauritius and they seem lovely - has anyone got any experience of holidaying in Mauritius ie. is the island very quiet, weather, hiring a car for sight seeing etc.....
