Holiday for myself and 9 year old DD

We have not had a holiday for the last four years. I have saved up to go away this year and would love some advice on destinations.
We have two weeks off in the middle of August. Happy to consider longer flights too, as well as cruises. It doesn't necessarily have to be a beach holiday either.
I looked at Disneyland Paris but for the same price as a 3 night stay we could get at least a one weeks holiday somewhere.
I have saved £4,000 for the holiday but would prefer not to spend it all if possible. Any ideas?

What sort of things do you enjoy doing/does she enjoy doing? Do the two of you have particular hobbies or interests? What are some fun things you have done together? Just trying to get a sense of the parameters within which we're working.

If you’re up for the drive, I’d recommend Beekse Bergen safari resort in the Netherlands. www.beeksebergen.nl/en/stay-the-night It’s 20 minutes from Efteling.

My DD would likes swimming so a pool and/or beach would be good.
Somewhere that isn’t too touristy would be good.
I’ve had a quick look at Corsica and Capri, but I’m not sure if my DD would like to go somewhere like this for 7-10 days or would she get bored? I would love it though.
Her favourite holiday so far has been Disneyland Paris, though it wasn’t a particularly relaxing time for me!

Safari looks lovely and I will definitely keep a note for that another time when my DH is available to come away as he would love it.

Go on an adventure! Get some cheap (for August) and stop off in a few places getting trains inbetween.

If you don't fancy that then Lake Garda in Italy might meet your requirements. You can swim in the lake, enjoy lovely views and little towns to visit but the south east of the lake has a good selection of theme and water parks. The wines flowing too!

The safari resort does have two indoor pools, one of which has a slide.

Zell am See in Austria offers mountains for walking, biking, summer toboganning or just a cable car ride and the lake for swimming, boating, paddle boarding etc. It's a beautiful town and you could also do short trips to the glacier and Europe's highest waterfall.

Plenty of companies do packages or book your own accommodation & Ryannair flight to Salzburg.

I would recommend a holiday village (first choice etc) as there will be lots of free activities that dd can during the day and in the evening. My dd loves these holidays especially as she gets to meet kids her own age.
For Disneyland Paris deals have a look at holiday dealers.
