April & June

Ideas please for a week in each month. Single guy, 45.

Would like one destination to be coastal but with stuff going on or to look at. I love to be near the sea but don't like more than two afternoons in a week just lying on a beach. Previous favourite holiday (only ever been abroad twice) was staying in Sirmione on Lake Garda with great rail connections to be able to do a day in Verona, day in Venice.

We went to Kos town in April which was lovely. Enough going on to keep
Us entertained, cheap car hire as it was off season and Greek Easter celebrations which were fantastic. Lovely town with harbour, town and a beach area. Can get boat trips to Kalymnos and Turkey if you are there after Greek Easter. Would be equally good in June! As would Corfu, Rhodes Town, Crete.... can you see any link?!! Love Greece!
Rome would also be good, or Venice.

Spain also tends to have impressive Easter events. Somewhere like Nerja has beach & is only just over an hour away from Granada & the Alhambra.

Barcelona for June has loads to do. Stay in the city or just up the coast.

Seville would be a good choice for April ( before it gets too hot), plenty in Seville to keep you busy for a week, but also lots nearby by train : Cadiz, Cordoba, etc or a week split between Seville and Granada with a day trip to Rhonda. Just check accommodation is available if going during the big Easter events...

June is a good time for Croatia, sea is warm enough to swim but it avoids the busiest and hottest time of year (July, August). Plenty of beautiful old cities and towns to explore, plus the coast and islands. Not many sandy beaches, but lovely clear water for swimming.

Amalfi coast/Sorrento , probably April good heatwise. Somewhere in the Alps in June, lots of mountain/lake based activities or you can visit some smaller cities like Salzburg, Bern or Geneva.
