Please can someone recommend a good car seat bag for checking it in as luggage? I want something that will help protect the seat a bit and with carrying straps.
Thank you!!

I have one from amazon it's just the sizing you may need to check. Also we put nappies and floatation aids in ours too to pack it safe

planespotting · 10/03/2019 13:48

@littlebillie genius about the nappies!! Will save me space! Is it that red one you have?

I used to travel lots with children. I've seen SO many car seats damaged when flying. And god knows how many got damage that wasn't visible.

It's really advised that you don't check car seats. I've always taken it on the plane with ds.

Thanks @pinkgloves but that is not an option which is why I am asking for the best possible bag/ idea to pack it

Maybe fly with a cheaper spare seat then? I've seen seats well packed in hideously expensive bags that have flown first class and have still come out smashed to shit. DS's main car seat was £385 so I'll be fucked if I'm shelling that out twice! Grin

But the best bag I've seen is the JL Childress bag.

We wrapped in shit loads of bubble wrap and then used a tent bed. Seats were undamaged.

Used a tent bag

planespotting · 10/03/2019 18:13

@pinkgloves we will take our second car seat, that one was only about £100 and used maybe 10 times a year 😬 but I still want it safe!
Surely there has to be a way when people pack guitars and sport equipment
@cliffdiverbubble wrap sounds like a plan

Second JL Childless - decent padding and it’s really sturdy, but not too bulky. Come in different sizes to fit the actual car seat so there’s not loads of spare fabric.

JL thanks!
