Has anyone ever been? Can you tell us what it's like?

We seem to have acquired a break at the one near Lowestoft, DHs idea but trip advisor hasn't given me much hope! DD is coming, she's 6

Also, I did a Butlins trip with my Clubcard points, and expected my kids to love it and never want to return to pontins. But they spoke about Captain Croc CONSTANTLY and keep asking when we are going back to pontins.

It's definitely good for young kids, so if your daughter is 6 she'll love it. They'll do like
10am: Wake up story with Zena the zebra
11am: Dance class with Florence the flamingo
Etc etc. It really is kid heaven. If you can accept that kid heaven is going to the arcade every evening too, and a slush puppy to drink etc. Sort of holidays of "our" era, I think.

My DD loved it when she was younger, we went a few times (there was a Pontins near family so we could visit) but yes to taking as much of your own stuff as possible and a dettol spray.

I can't remember the name of the 'grade' of accommodation but we went for the highest - it's the same accommodation really but with free electric and ours was always clean, thankfully.

DD particularly loved the evening entertainment despite my worries about her heading off on her own to the dancefloor. They also have photo opportunities with the characters, may want to take an autograph book if they still do that. Character breakfasts. Yes to the arcade, a warning - the machines give out tickets and some children get obsessed!

Our local pontins is is is always in the paper because of people complaining about the grim dirty accommodation or people fighting there.

Sorry but it sounds awful.

I've been to pontins when my boys were young. They absolutely loved it.
Yes, it's a bit tacky and the 'entertainment' wasn't brilliant, but as somewhere with a swimming pool, beach, activities that don't cost a fortune compared to center Parcs (wall climbing, abseiling, zip wire etc.) if the kids were happy I was happy.

I think the roof caved in in the main area of our local pontins recently. Not the one your going to mind you. I'm sure it won't be that bad.

Don't do it 😂😂😂 honestly me and my partner booked it and felt like we'd gone back to the 90s, old tatty decor the oldest tv with barely 4 channels we have the creakiest sofa bed and the Room was dirty 🤦‍♀️ was the worst holiday I've ever been on and we didn't wanna go back to the room lol the facilities was rubbish it was only out of the park that was average

I went to the Brean Sands one about 15 years ago. The accommodation was so cold and damp, I came back with bronchitis.

evaperonspoodle · 08/03/2019 23:08

I'd go OP and make it a really fun experience for your dd. It might turn out to be the best holiday ever 😁

They're disgusting. Dirty and run down. Honestly stay at home-you'll have more fun and won't risk catching something awful.
