End of September, toddlers and a hotel with 2 rooms?

Hi all,

Long time reader first time poster :)

I'm looking to go away with my wife and kids (3.5 and 18 months), I really don't like the idea of all sharing a room as I'd rather the kids got a good night sleep at their usual time and we can have a little time to ourselves (without having to be on the balcony). So I've been looking for hotels which have 2 rooms, Jet2 holidays give you the option to filter so its handy - but have I missed any resorts from other providers?

My wishlist is:

  • Nice weather for last week of September (early 20's+)
  • Seperate bedroom for the kids
  • Decent pools for the kids, i.e small slides and other fun things
  • Ideally all inclusive but if not then close to restaurants as I'd like a break from cooking & cleaning up every evening.

I think I'm against a Villa as we'd need to hire a car, car seats and that all adds a bit of hassle really on what I'd like to be a holiday of quality family time (plus quality husband and wife time in the evenings).

My budget is around £1500. I'd be interested to hear any suggestions from resorts you've been to which are family friendly and have a room for the children.

Thanks in advance.

Have a look at the first choice holiday village in Cyprus. Not sure on price but definitely worth a look as it fits the rest of your criteria.

MummaGiles · 04/03/2019 16:02

Some of the other holiday villages also do 2 room apartment style accomodation.

Thanks, I'll check them out, the Cyprus one is coming out at £2200 though :(.

Oh and annoyingly the wife has ruled out Greece (due to the toilet paper thing) out and Turkey too *(due to a terrible experience with food poisoning).

That is not a large budget to be fair. Usuallly Costs is about £2k for a week and I do a lot of searching to get the costs down. You could have one bedroom though perhaps and allow the children to sleep in there and you sleep in the lounge area maybe?

Personally with the spec you’ve given I would suggest sun tropical island in lanzarote. Year round sun and lots of things to entertain children.

Etino · 04/03/2019 18:02

You mean adjoining rooms? Otherwise I guarantee you’ll end up with one child each or one of you bunking up with the kids.

There so £2k for sc and £2.5k for AI

This one was amazing and had family apartments (2 bedrooms). We had a lovely time here (if you don’t mind it being mostly German). I’m not sure if it fits into your budget.

We went to Valentin Son Bou in Menorca last Sept. It doesn't quite fit your criteria. Children's pool, no slides, but a small playground and some kids activities. We paid about £1700 for 3 but with an under 2 your price might be similar. Apartments were 1 bed with a sofa bed so not as convenient as 2 beds.

BendingSpoons · 05/03/2019 13:10

Forgot to say it was half board.

Hollowvictory · 05/03/2019 13:14

You could get a 2 or 3 bed mobile home for £1500, pro much less, anywh in Europe

I think that first choice price was very good!

Thanks for so many replies.

I'm thinking I might try and sell Greece a bit more as some of the hotels look nice and fit almost in budget, weather should be ok too.

I could certainly get a villa for that budget inc flights so I won't totally rule that out, as I guess we could eat breakfast & lunch there and then dinner out as they can be good value in some countries.

I have found a few 3-4 star hotels in budget - its just a struggle to find someone other than Jet2 who make it easy to find the 2 room options.

Please take a look at travel republic and alpha rooms you can pay as you go. Where are u flying from?

mrdb · 06/03/2019 16:49

Flying from STN (Or any London).

Travel republic doesn't seem to have any easy way to filter for hotels which have 2 bedroom accommodation.

It’s worth looking at the Tots to Travel website - they have a number of hotels that have two bed suites/villas - even if you don’t book with them.

reluctantbrit · 06/03/2019 17:14

It may be worth looking at the hotels directly. We found that in several occasions you had a lot more room choice.

Yes, you many need to organise your own transfer but that’s easy with help of the hotel as well.

mrdb · 07/03/2019 10:33

Ah that tots to travel looks excellent, thank you!
