Amsterdam, hotel recommendations please!

So, we’ve decided on a week in Amsterdam, in two weeks’ time. Am overwhelmed with the choice on “ lastminute.com”, can anyone help?!

Budget will be £1000 max for the two of us, flights and hotel.
We’d like to be fairly central but nowhere too loud/party-ish. Will this be possible?

I haven’t stayed in a bad one yet
As long as your near a metro/tram/bus line you can get a 2day travel ticket for €12

Don’t stay near station too busy and seedy unless that’s what you want.

We stayed at the Hilton which is just out of the way that it's nice and quiet but also only a 5 minute walk to the centre, think we payed around £100 p/night but it was the first time we went to Amsterdam so was a bit unsure about hotels etc over there so wanted to play it safe with a Hilton!
