Would you stay with relatives ,you have never met, whilst on holiday?

Dh's parents migrated to Aus 40 years ago and his extended family all still live in the UK. We are travelling from Australia to the UK for 3 months with the 3 dc and plan on seeing the family during our travels. His grandparents have passed so it is mainly aunts, uncles and cousins. Two of the aunts have invited us to stay but we are a bit unsure. We have never met any of them so would be a first meeting for all of us. Not sure what to do. The aunts are in their sixties. It might be nice or it could be a disaster. What to do??

Maybe only commit to spending a night or two with them until you actually meet them? I once went to stay with distant relatives I had met only once before for 4 months. They were lovely and welcoming but I did find it hard at the start - mainly because of cultural differences, etc and I was very shy...

If you have small children and are worried that their homes might not be child-friendly, maybe stay in a hotel or self catering place nearby and visit during the day?

Thanks KTeePee. Not so worried about the child-friendly home as the dc are perfect angels although ds2 is nut allergic. Problem is we have booked whole weeks for other places as it is cheaper for 5 of us, so it is a week or nothing. I get the feeling they will be offended with nothing.
