Booking a holiday before baby arrives

Is this even possible? We normally do last minute with DC1 but now we are ruled by school holiday dates we are looking to book further ahead. DC2 is due in the middle of May, we are hoping to get away at the end of August/start of Sep. Can you book for a child who hasn't been born? Literally stupid question of the day!

Must be able to. I have friends who did. Do give yourself time to get baby's passport sorted out before you go though, as you can't do that until they're born.

@ReaganSomerset I'm hoping a few months would be enough time to process a baby passport- our DC1's took a few weeks when she was 2YO.
Holiday this time will be with a tour operator so will have to enquire with them I think

Yes you can. The travel company /airline add an unnamed infant place to your booking and then you ring back to confirm final dob and name etc once you know them.

I used to work for a travel agency. Usually the airline is happy to add a additional passenger to the booking. Typically I’ve rung back to verify the change. Please allow yourself a decent amount of time.
