Where would £5,000 get me?

I often daydream of just going travelling for a while, not ages, maybe a couple of months, and see where it takes me. I have no commitments, apart from a job obviously. I have 5 grand in savings. What would you do?

I'd go to Asia. The flights are expensive but once you're there it's really cheap. I'd recommend Vietnam, really beautiful, great food, friendly people.

We also did the trans Siberian railway but it depends on how confident you are doing such a big trip on your own.

Asia
Your money will go a long way.
Usually do a month and spend less than £2000 on travel and hotels but that usually includes 4-5 internal flights and mid range hotels but could do it a lot cheaper using overnight trains and cheaper hotels
Flights there are the big outlay but then still only around the £500 return if booked early

Thailand is great very friendly and safe
Malaysia not so smiley but still friendly and cheaper no alcohol
Vietnam very busy and fun and cheap
Philopines friendly and cheap.

I think there prisons are not somewhere you really want to go so less crime.

Have fun.and read up on the local scams to avoid
