Any recommendations. Can be a weekend or longer here or abroad

Needs to be special as it's a big birthday!

What does she like doing? Who else is coming? Budget? When?

My DM of similar age recently enjoyed a trip to Paris. She had been before many years ago but since then her tastes in art and culture have changed and she wanted to see different things at the museums. On one day she got an escorted coach tour to Monet’s garden and on another day she went to Versailles, which was her highlight. She also did a pastry making workshop one morning and a boat trip along the Seine.

I went to Madrid with my mum for a long weekend when she was 75 (didn't specifically go for her birthday though). Lots of lovely museums, parks, tapas bars etc. She loved it. We went last March, so not hot but warm enough to sit outside.

This year we're going to Carcassonne.

Venice, if she's OK on her feet.

Look up ‘thehousebytheloch’ near Inverness, it’s a self catering house. Sleeps up to 19, so much at the house to do for all ages so you won’t get on top of each other. Has superb Loch and mountain views. Has a Cinema Room, Hot Tub, Dance area, Gaming Area, Snooker room, bar area, kids playpark and enclosed football pitch, a huge dining table to gather your ‘clan’ together. The local hostelry will even lay on a complimentary minibus to shuttle you back and forth for a meal for the special meal if you don’t want to cook yourselves. Google it. Not cheap but divided by 19 works out about £50 each per night.

Good ideas thanks

There will only be 5 of us me dh dc dm and df

We don't have a big clan sadly but we are very close!

She is happiest with us around as we live far away so don't think she minds where or what we do!

Ah, that makes a difference! Hope it all goes well wherever you decide. 😄
