France at Easter - about 2 hrs drive from ferry ports

....where would you recommend?
We like the outdoors - walking, cycling, water sports (or not if too cold).
Nice town or city to look round.
Cheapish place to stay - units on campsites maybe.
Recommendations appreciated!

Chateau Les Eaux is just over two hours from Le Havre. It’s nearer to St Malo but we find it easier to go to Le Havre. There’s a large watersports centre nearby at Granville and bike hire on site. Unfortunately the indoor pool complex doesn’t open until late April. There are lots of places to explore nearby.
Senonches is exactly two hours from Le Havre. europe.huttopia.com/en/site/senonches/#the-village It opens on the 12th April. Several family-friendly cycle trails, bike hire, a heated and covered pool and a lovely peaceful lake with boats. It’s a bit remote - there are a few villages nearby but no large towns.

We are holidaying in the UK at Easter due to brexit. Can't be doing with 5 hr queues at the port!

Sortingfinances · 10/02/2019 10:05

Thanks @ricekrispie22 I'll check both those out.

Superhero - not 100% decided on France anyway, but won't be letting brexit influence it. Fortunately we have plenty of time so travel delays wouldn't ruin a holiday in any case.

Which port will you go from?

Sortingfinances · 10/02/2019 15:22

Ideally Dover or those nearby but could be one further west along coast which I hadn't considered previously.

@gayparee Thank you! A bit far for this trip, but id come across that one a couple of years ago and then couldn't find it again. Would be perfect for my lot.
Now safely book marked.

Vannes is under 2 hours from St Malo (about 3 from Caen) I live here and love it Wink Fab beaches, Carnac is nearby, loads to do. Happy to help if it sounds interesting.
