Planning to go to Lisbon later this year with our 3 year old. Thinking of staying in an air bnb but really unsure which area to stay in - any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Ideally somewhere with somethings at a walkable distance, access to public transport and maybe a supermarket or similar for supplies.

Maybe look at the area around Rossio metro station and south towards Baixa, it's one of the few flat (ish) parts, has a Pingo Doce supermarket and as well as the metro there is also Rossio rail station nearby plus trams, buses etc.

The Parque das Nações district has numerous children-friendly activities including a cable car that runs the length of the park and plenty of fountains to play in. Also in Parque das Nações is the Oceanarium and the Pavilion of Knowledge. The Pavilion of Knowledge is an interactive science/technology museum which is good value and has many exhibits to engage children. Nearby are trendy waterfront restaurants.
Two other great areas with children are the Baixa district or close to the Avenida da Liberdade – this area is close to the historic centre, but there are no major hills. Popular tourist areas that are not really suited for families are Alfama (too many hills), Bairro Alto and Cais do Sodré (nightlife hotspots) and Belem (too far from the city centre).

Having been to Lisbon very recently I would recommend the Chiado / Bairro Alto area - it is hilly but in the heart of the old part and easy access to the other areas. Lots of gorgeous restaurants / coffee shops in that area as well as cute little shops etc

Thanks so much for your replies. Some good pointers there - I'll continue my search!
