Intrepid travelling trips - Sri Lanka

We are heading to Sri Lanka with 4 DC (ages 1-9) in tow. The older ones have done a fair bit of travelling but the baby hasn’t. I’d love some tips.

What kind of shoes are nice and comfy for kids when it’s hot? They’re usually in crocs but get blisters if their feet are sweaty.

Shall I bother taking a buggy? Assume it’s better to just take a carrier for the youngest?

Any tips for surviving all the travelling around? Ways to deal with jet lag and all sleeping in noisy rooms and tents etc?

Anything else?

If you are in an area where there are biting bugs then shoes and trainers are best. good cotton socks and sturdy proper trainers. otherwise open shoe feet get bitten to pieces and its miserable. I would buy a cheap fold up buggy. If you end up not using it then just leave it there. will you need car seats for travelling around? with jet lag you just have to power on through and try and get into the right routine as quickly as possible. the 1 year old will be napping anyway. Make sure you take a small first aid kit with some replacement salts for diarrhoea, lots of deet spray, sun cream, bite creams etc. really invaluable with kids because when you need stuff you need it now. Travelling around with littlies means looking how long something will take in terms of time and doubling it. rushing is no fun - better to travel slow and see less.
