Getting into Paris with kids

I'm going to France for a week in August with DH, DS (8) and DD(5). I want to go into Paris for the day while we're there. We'll have our own car but the thought of driving in Paris is awful and I know you need passes etc now. I'm aware that there's park and rides but does anyone have any advice about the best way to get in to the centre? We'd be coming from the east with Troyes being the nearest city. I'm wondering if the train might be the best option? Thanks

Definitely take the train! We did something similar on the way back from holiday a few years ago. Stayed in Versailles for a couple nights near the station so we could leave the car at the hotel and train in.

Thanks RhubarbCrumbled, I'll look into the train from Troyes. The kids love a train journey so one in France will be even more exciting!
