Guernsey in May?

We are considering visiting Guernsey over May halfterm (so the last week of May) and have found somewhere still available which has a shared pool. However having looked at the average temperatures and engaged my brain, it’s not really that kind of destination, unless you hit a warm week in August. Am I wrong in thinking this?

I don’t mind it not being hot, just if the family want to do beach and pool, it might be a bit silly to go there in May. Anyone got any experience, thanks?

It's like going to Devon weather wise, so not a fly and flop at the beach but lots of nice things to do. It's easy to get around and very safe. How old are your DC?

They are primary school age, one KS1 and one KS2. I think the older one would be interested in the WW2 stuff as just started to touch on that at school. The younger one loves the sea.

Had a lovely week in Devon a few Mays ago - maybe it was unseasonably hot as I remember someone got sunburnt at the Beach!

The WW2 stuff is great, and the museums are all manageable sizes so easy to do one a day then the beach.

The forecast for Guernsey isn't that accurate and it often feels hotter than it says, our friends live there and their guests often get burnt despite warnings!

You can visit the other islands for the day which is nice to do, I can't quite remember but I think the puffins are around in May so you can do a boat trip to see them.

Thanks so much for this info, I think it sounds great. Will report back if we go!
Wonder if your friends have any local knowledge about the accommodation we‘re looking at, it gets good reviews but they haven’t responded to my query.

Which one is it? I've been to Guernsey quite a few times over the years Smile

I've not stayed there but I like the location--vistas cafe and crabby Jack's close by and you can walk to cobo Bay. Easy bus into St Peter Port. I like the west coast beaches best myself (which is Vazon and Cobo).
