Thinking of going away (early Jan) for a break for me and dh (to celebrate his birthday). Hopefully not too pricey, nor far from M25 - any bit of it, and just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions? Many thanks!!

I don't know anything about roads. Whereabouts are you thinking of? SE? Bailiffscourt Hotel nearish Brighton on the coast is gorgeous, esp in Winter. Langshott Manor is quit near Gatwick (but don't that put you off!) and is lovely too. Aah, how I'd like a weekend away...

There is the Grove near Watford which is supposed to be fab - am going there in October - DH is mad for it (the hotel I mean)

Christopher Wren Hotel, Windsor. Its right on the bridge over the Thames, a stonesthrow from the castle and Eton which is very pretty.

Am rubbish at links, perhaps someone else could sort it out.

I'm not sure how much it is now, but I don't think its horrendously priced.

Great Fosters at Egham is VERY romantic, but quite pricey.

Nutfield Priory (near to junction 7 and 8) here and map here or Rowhill Grange near the M20 junction with the M25 here Can recommend both!
