Crutches on a plane

Traveling to Tenerife in five weeks with family . I broke my ankle six weeks ago and had surgery to fix it, will start my physio soon . Consultant said I might still need my crutches to help steady me when walking . But was wondering if I could take them on the plane with me as I've been looking and many websites say they are put in the hold. Any help advice appreciated.

I was allowed to take my walking sticks on a plane to Spain when I was still waiting for my new knees to be fitted.

You may be asked to shorten them once settled into your seat so they fit in an overhead locker.

Staff at both Birmingham and Barcelona airports were really helpful and lovely!
