We went last year to Porec, actually the hotel was on an island just across from the harbour and had a shuttle boat. It was beautiful.

The year before we had a short break in Dubrovnik. Also beautiful.

I'd recommend it, we'll probably go again.

Porec, boat trip to Rovinj and Venice.

FlipperSkipper · 11/01/2019 17:49

Porec. We stayed at the same hotel as glamorousgrandmother!

I'd love to go to Dubrovnik.

Hvar stunning beautiful but stunningly expensive

Dubrovnik.

Buses are great so travel up and down the coast.

We chartered a small yacht for a day. The owners took us to nearby islands and we jumped off and swam a lot. If you can afford it it is really worth it. Best day ever.

We also walked out to some derelict hotels which had been blown up during the war. That was also very interesting.

We will definitely go back.

Hope that you have a great holiday.

No specific recommendations, but it's lovely. Go!

I think you probably can't go wrong in Croatia - the coast and all of the islands are just so stunningly beautiful. A friend who is a travel writer recommends Dubrovnik October to March only because otherwise it is completely packed with tourists.

I would try and find somewhere near enough to Krka national park to go for a day trip - you wouldn't want to miss those waterfalls!

Thank you so much everyone getting excited thinking about it

Rovinj and rest of istrian peninsula stunning.
Plitvive national park amazing.

KateAlexander · 11/01/2019 19:15

We went to a secluded island off Dubrovnik (50 minute ferry) called Mljet and it was so utterly stunning and despite being tiny had three restaurants and a supermarket in walking distance. It was our mini moon and the best holiday we’ve ever had!

scunner · 11/01/2019 19:21

Dubrovnik is very busy but worth seeing for a couple of days. In May, Havar is so beautiful and not teaming with tourists. A truly lovely place.
