Any recommendations for hotels in Reykjavik? I'm looking at doing a short break there with my teenage son and wondered if anyone had stayed and would recommend any particular hotels. Thanks.

We did both the Blue Lagoon & the Secret Lagoon, preferred the latter. Natural thermal pool & much more low-key and way cheaper. The Blue Lagoon felt like a production line.

It depends what you want. If you just need clean, safe comfortable, warm, modern then check out hotel Klettur,,an easy walk into the centre

Yes. And it stinks. And the bottom is all slimy from that bloody silica face mask. Bleugh.

We did the golden circle with GT ice. we went on a mini bus and also did the secret lagoon on that trip. It was recomended to us instead of the blue lagoon.

We did into the glacier with greyline. you might as well get the cheapest coaach as the tours themselves are done by into the glacier team.

We did the northern lights on a boat the most expensive option but figured if we didn't see them at least we had a boat trip.

We booked all ours on arrival at hotel..

Book for Northern lights for first night. We were there for 4 nights and it only ran the last night.

Laugarvatn Fontana is a gorgeous spa, but not sure whether trips run there.

Reykjavik Excursions and Grayline are the two big tour companies.

There are free walking tours in Reykjavik: citywalk.is/tour/free-walking-tour-reykjavik/

I stayed at the Metropolitan and it was basic as hell but clean and private...and most importantly was absolutely central. Would definitely return.

We stayed at the hotel skuggi last year and would recommend it. It was about 5-10 walk to the centre of Reykjavik. The hotel did a good breakfast.

We used geoiceland for the golden circle tour and re.is for others. We also did a free walking tour of Reykjavik which was really interesting.
