Train journey through Spain

I’m considering travelling by train from Seville - Madrid - Barcelona in the summer (two adults and 2 under 12’s) staying a few days in each place. Or alternatively Seville - Alicante - Valencia - Barcelona. Anyone done this? I have limited knowledge but used the trains last year while in Spain and they seemed reliable, quiet and air conditioned well!! Looking for an alternative to our usual holiday.....

Hi! Trains around Spain are really easy to navigate, you’ll have a fantastic time. Instead of Alicante might I suggest Murcia? Or Cartagena? Both more beautiful than Alicante (I’m biased though, I have a home in Murcia) train fares are a lot more reasonable than the UK, I’ve found. A first class ticket from Murcia to Barcelona is about €70, (return, 7 hour journey) first class has comfier seats but not much else in the way of an upgrade, though, as standard has decent seats, AV equipment and wifi too.

My husband and I visited Spain last year, including a few days in Barcelona. It really is a beautiful city, and we found the people to be so kind and welcoming. Park Guell is a must-see, and I enjoyed it even more than Sagrada Familia. I highly recommend Palosanto it's possible that we stopped in every day on our visit and getting scooter rental Barcelona in order to see the most of the city. We travelled mostly by train, but since we wanted to take a look at medieval towns around Barcelona we had to take bus

and if you have time, definitely visit Rupit, Montserrat, Girona and Garrotxa. Also, when in Madrid, do take time to visit Toledo, a beautiful city
