Where in the world!!

Now that both DC are at university, this is the first year that DH and I will be able to make the most of the May half term holiday, I work in a school and get 2 weeks off.
We are pretty open to ideas, but have discounted Canada (might be a family wedding in the next couple of years), Australia (too far, and Winter) and China (have plans to visit with friends).
So, where would you go or have been at that time of year, we desperately need inspiration!

California road trip

Ah, we did that with DC four years ago Crispbutty! Was fab, not sure I’d be able to persuade DH to go back so soon!

Japan

Mexico, Jamaica, Bali, Vietnam, Sri Lanka..

Have just got back from Sri Lanka and loved it.

Cuba will be beautiful at that time. Travel round stay in Casa Particulars

Cuba is on the possible list, also Hong Kong and Vietnam.

We loved Cuba, it felt safe but adventurous at the same time. Staying with families really added to this. We drove ourselves around and it was great.

I would like to go to Vietnam too though!

Singapore for a few days and then Malaysia to lie by the beach in luxury and have great food

Easy to combine Hong Kong and Vietnam - lots of good value flights from HK to Vietnam - eg Hong Kong Express.

Just a bit concerned about the weather in HK/Vietnam end of May early June, will it be monsoon season

South Africa (no jet lag, beautiful beaches, fabulous food and wine and cheap!). Trans Siberian express, Mozambique, Madagascar?

If you want to see polar bears, you need to go June to August in the Arctic Circle in Norway. May is too early.

I would consider New York, Washington, Virginia, or Boston and New England. It’s also a good time to go to northern Argentina and Brazil too. We have been to Ecuador in April and May is also fine. I would look at the weather for Sri Lanka and the Far East but Japan is ok in May, but getting quite hot.

Would consider Rio!

What kind of holiday do you want? Are you travellers or tourists?!

Just to add: South Africa and East Africa would be fine. Also Russia, Sweden and other places nearer to home!
