Vietnam resort?

Hi

We’re considering Vietnam for next summer. Does anyone have any recommendations? We like a resort (AI) and hiring a car and getting out and about. Children will be 14 & 16.

Or if not Vietnam where else to consider? (Not Caribbean as have been for last few years).

Recommend La Siesta resort and spa in Hoi An, but it's not AI.

Vietnam is great, but I think you’d regret going AI - the food is so cheap and so so good! One of the best parts of experiencing the country.

Also I’m not sure how easy it would be to self drive... in the cities the traffic is chaotic and they don’t really do pedestrian crossings - people just walk out and the cars / scooters avoid them. We found it easy and cheap to get taxis or buses when needed.
Hoi An would be a nice base, you can hire bikes to get around the area, although I’d probably recommend staying a few days in Hanoi too and maybe a boat trip in Halong Bay.

Agree with Reg - I have been to Vietnam several times and would definitely not drive - nobody pays any attention to road rules.
Hiring car and driver is cheap - we paid around $60 for a car and driver to take us from Hoi An to Hue - three hour journey.

Actually non Vietnamese are not allowed to drive /hire cars in Vietnam - I was offered a job in HCM City and had to research stuff like transport options which is how I know! Cars with drivers are cheap to hire though
